You can never be right until you get things right; the only way to have intercourse with sounded mind is understanding the word of truth. All things may be good, but all good might not be right. Life distanced from the scripture cannot be influenced greatly by the spirit of God.
The poor people does not guard their house against robbery, it is of those who are rich that become anxious at extreme to protect their houses from thieves, because of their precious properties and other in-house treasures. As a believer, it is good to protect our spiritual house by guarding it against the devil, as it is often said in the Scripture, ".... that ye may be able to withstand, in the evil day.... ". The windstorm which was likened to an evil day will surely come, but as you equipped yourself with the word of God in teachings revealing the absolute mind of Him, you will be able to stand unshakable.
The version of you now will not stand at the place of destiny you desired or that God has showed you. This was why Apostle Paul have to plead when it comes to renewal of mind and said "I beseech you brethren by the mercies of God...". Paul does not just pleaded, but wanted everyone to pay attention; we were reminded that the world is ever seeking to mold us to its will. One of the things he was begging believers for is to not be conformed to the thinking, structure, pattern or system of this world, but to be transformed (change from one level to another) by constantly renewing our mind by the word of God, to the end that you and I can prove what is good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God for our lives.
Nothing so pleases God as daily surrender; pleasing God only becomes possible with faith, and faith comes by hearing the word of God. (Romans 12:1-2, Hebrew 11:6, Romans 10:17)
A man cannot be better than his mindset, the level of your mindset determine your limits in life.
As you give yourself to teachings, you are preparing your mind for the higher level God is taking you to, and you will certainly get there.
The word of God is not only readable or teachable but doable things. It is in the heart of the father of our Lord Jesus Christ that everyone is clean before Him in all their ways, and this can only be achieved by taking heed to every word of God as it proceeded from Him and taught. What you are not taught, how can you apply? How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to thy word. It is not enough to be taught the word of God, but to also be the doer of the word as it is only those who abide by the word that will be called the children of God.
The one anxiety with us all should be to stand approved before God. we must hold a straight course in the word of truth. We heard Jesus revealing to Mary and Martha the secret to one thing that is needful of every believer in Christ; to learn at his feet.
